Scholars and Graduates gather in Washington, DC for Ashinaga USA Exploration Weekend 2024

Our second annual Ashinaga USA Exploration Weekend took place in Washington D.C., where ten Scholars and two Graduates came together in April. Exploration Weekend serves to provide in-person bonding and networking between cohorts of Ashinaga USA Scholars, as well as an opportunity for Scholars to experience and learn about new regions of the country while they are completing their undergraduate degrees.

Scholars at the Washington Monument

The Scholars visited significant cultural sites including the The National Museum of African American History and Culture, the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, and the White House. They also bonded by playing board games and making breakfast for each other. For their last night, the Scholars enjoyed dinner together at a West African restaurant.

Thank you to our Ashinaga USA Graduates Physiwell (Trinity College, class of 2021) and Nathaniel (Union College, class of 2023) who worked to create an itinerary for the Scholars, and provided a photo essay to share!
